Overview
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer who will be responsible for the successful delivery of our solutions for our customers using Infrastructure-as-Code based on Terraform, containerised applications, and Kafka. This involves a good understanding of the existing infrastructures, being a proactive problem solver and introducing improvements required by application architecture changes. You will be hybrid working out of our office in Bristol.
We embrace modern methodologies with self-managed teams utilising Kanban or Scrum as an overarching agile practice. Experience in Financial Services would be a bonus.
Responsibilities
* Deliver observable cloud solutions from inception to production, working hands-on throughout the process.
* Adopt and promote cloud-native architecture within engineering teams.
* Deploy and manage Kafka in production and design secure, highly available Kafka cluster architectures.
* Use configuration as code to eliminate click-ops.
* Collaborate with development teams and communicate effectively to solve technical problems.
* Participate in ongoing service monitoring and incident investigation.
* Contribute to day-to-day activities related to Kafka, container technologies, IaC (Terraform), monitoring (Prometheus + Grafana, Splunk), and source control (Git).
* Familiarity with service mesh (Istio) and streams-based application problem investigation.
Qualifications & Experience
* Essential: Kafka (ideally Confluent), day-to-day deployment and management, and Kafka security.
* Experience with performance monitoring and investigation of distributed systems.
* Strong technical problem-solving skills and collaboration with development teams.
* Strong communication, task management, and leadership skills.
* Hands-on experience delivering cloud solutions and applying cloud-native architectures.
