Finance Director
Halifax, West Yorkshire
£80,000 - £100,000 + 20% bonus + 5% pension
Robert Half Finance & Accounting are recruiting for a Finance Director to join a large, fast‑growing, European professional services organisation operating in the financial services sector.
This is a pivotal senior leadership role, reporting directly to the Group CFO, with responsibility for leading the UK financial strategy, governance and operational finance functions. The position offers genuine influence across financial performance, risk management and strategic decision‑making within a highly regulated environment.
The Role
As Finance Director, you will take ownership of financial planning, reporting, treasury and controls, while partnering closely with the senior leadership team to drive profitability and long‑term value creation.
Key responsibilities include:
* Lead and execute the UK financial strategy, aligned with wider group objectives
* Oversee financial planning, budgeting and forecasting across operations
* Deliver clear, insightful financial reporting and performance analysis to senior stakeholders
* Own treasury management, including client monies held in escrow and integration with group cash pooling
* Develop, implement and monitor accounting policies in line with UK GAAP and group standards
* Ensure a robust internal control environment and effective financial risk management
* Lead finance and procurement functions, embedding efficient, compliant processes
* Manage supplier relationships, pricing strategy and KPI frameworks
* Support regulatory compliance within a highly controlled financial services environment
* Develop, lead and mentor a finance team of six, fostering a high‑performance culture
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a commercially minded Finance Director or senior Financial Controller ready to step into a broader strategic leadership role.
You will ideally have:
* ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
* Extensive experience in senior financial leadership roles
* Strong technical accounting knowledge and controls experience
* Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting and financial performance management
* Experience operating in regulated or highly controlled environments
* Demonstrable people leadership experience, developing and motivating finance teams
* Procurement and supplier management experience, including KPI‑driven oversight
* Strong stakeholder management skills, working closely with senior leadership
* Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems
Salary & Benefits
