Overview
(CR) Senior Care Assistant, Maternity Cover - Trinity House. Location: Trinity House. Salary: £13.80 - £14.00 per hour. Hours: 37.5 per week - Flexible across days/nights/twilight shifts (7pm - 11pm) - Maternity Cover. Responsible to: Service Manager. This role is with the Council for Social Witness (Older People Services) and follows a Christian ethos that values both physical and spiritual well-being. Trinity House is one of the homes for older people run by the Council for Social Witness (Older People Services). The Home accommodates residents with a range of physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs, including a 16-bed unit for dementia care. The Home operates a No Smoking Policy.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Care responsibilities: Design, plan, and implement individual care programs for residents; monitor and evaluate care plans; provide personal care respecting dignity and privacy; encourage activity and independence; accompany residents to appointments and activities; administer medication according to care policies; plan and supervise daily recreational and creative activities with accurate records; ensure safety of residents, staff, and visitors.
* Leadership and Training: Supervise staff under the Service Manager; promote team building and leadership; participate in QCF assessments as directed; ensure smooth handovers between shifts; lead or assist with daily prayers for residents as requested; ensure compliance with NISCC regulations and quality care standards; support staff training and professional development; contribute to Quality Assurance programs.
* Administration: Respond to enquiries and refer to the Service Manager as needed; handle administrative tasks; maintain confidential records per legislation and policies.
* Additional duties: Lead or organise daily devotions; work with local clergy to coordinate the home’s spiritual program; participate in meetings and ongoing training; carry out other reasonable duties to support resident well-being.
What We Are Looking For
* Compassionate and experienced Senior Care Assistant with a genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities; ability to work within a Christian ethos and support residents’ spiritual and physical needs.
* Experience supervising staff and taking leadership responsibility in the absence of senior management.
* Strong understanding of care planning, medication administration, and personal care procedures.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work with staff, residents, and external professionals.
* Flexibility regarding working hours (including weekends) and on-call shifts as part of a rota system.
* NVQ/QCF level 3 in Health & Social Care or willingness to work towards within two years; awareness of Adult Safeguarding policies; appropriate IT skills (Word, email, portals) and at least 2 years’ experience caring for older people, people with disabilities or mental health needs; willingness to achieve competency in administering medications within 4 weeks of start date; availability for flexible hours including weekends; current registration with Northern Ireland Social Care Council.
