Youth Development Worker - Dumfries and Galloway Youth Work Service
The post is a unique opportunity for the right individual to take on a leadership role within Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Youth Work Service.
Salary: Band 8 or Band 9 (Band 9 if degree level qualified in CLD or Youth Work) - £34,161 – £40,356 per year
Duration: Permanent
Hours per week: 36 hours
Location: Based in Oasis Youth Centre, Dumfries, covering the Annandale & Eskdale area (requiring travel most days)

This role offers a leadership opportunity within Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Youth Work Service. It is open to candidates with a degree in Youth Work or Community Learning & Development (or equivalent), or those with substantial experience in Youth Work. Applicants should have significant experience working with young people, particularly within community settings with vulnerable youth, managing multiple projects, and thriving in a fast-paced environment.
The key responsibilities include:
* Leading youth services in the Annandale & Eskdale area, including programs for young parents, lunch clubs, groups for young people with additional support needs and disabilities, music and arts initiatives, issue-based groups, and school-based work. You will develop and oversee these programs and support regional participation networks and projects.
* Driving the next phase of youth work in the area, enhancing engagement with young people aged 12+ and managing a team of part-time Youth Workers and volunteers.
