Overview
As a Functional Assessor in our Health Assessment Advisory Service team, you’ll carry out meaningful work on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions to understand how a person’s health condition affects their daily life. Through fair, comprehensive assessments, you’ll help create a positive impact for millions of people.
Role Overview
This role gives Registered Nurses (RGN, RMN & RNLD), Physiotherapists, Paramedics, Occupational Therapists and Pharmacists the chance to use your clinical expertise in a new way. You’ll be part of a supportive, purpose‑led environment where your work contributes to improved outcomes, simpler processes, and a better future for customers and communities.
Responsibilities
* Speak with customers by phone, face to face or online.
* Carry out functional health assessments and gather accurate, detailed information.
* Consult with treating healthcare professionals where appropriate.
* Produce fair, high‑quality reports on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions.
* Use observational, communication and note‑taking skills to ensure every customer is treated with care and respect.
Qualifications
* One year of post‑registration experience as a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Pharmacist.
* Full registration with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC or equivalent), with an active PIN and no restrictions.
* Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to write concise, accurate reports.
* Good IT skills and the ability to work efficiently under time pressures.
Security Vetting
All Functional Assessors must successfully complete the full pre‑employment security screening process, including an Enhanced DBS check, before starting in role.
