About the role
Contractual hours: 37 per week. Start date: 27 July 2026 (subject to successful pre‑employment checks). Salary: £29,064 per annum (pro‑rated if the position is less than 37 hours or term‑time only). Location: Designated council office for your team; travel to and from the office is at your own expense.
Key Responsibilities
* Interpret and apply legislation and regulations to enforce moving traffic offences and parking restrictions in real time using CCTV and ANPR, including Red Routes, low emission zones, car‑free city centres, and bus gates.
* Use large CCTV and ANPR infrastructure to identify contraventions, capture evidential images, and produce evidence packs for appeal and Traffic Penalty Tribunal hearings.
* Accurately input contravention details into the Penalty Charge Notice processing system and maintain the exemption list by evaluating requests and evidence.
* Respond to requests from members of the public, police, or colleagues for CCTV/digital evidence, and handle a wide range of enquiries and complaints.
* Identify and report incidents such as anti‑social behaviour, road traffic accidents, road work disruptions, and events to appropriate authorities, including the monitoring officer, bus and taxi forums.
* Provide fault monitoring for all CCTV, ANPR cameras, signs, and lines, ensuring operational status and authorising repairs with urgency.
* Produce evidence and reports to inform and engage with internal and external partners, reflecting on impacts and lessons for future planning.
* Protect council data and ensure compliance with data protection legislation when handling CCTV/digital information.
* Serve as the first point of contact for customers via online, phone, and written communication, ensuring protocols are established and actions are taken to resolve inquiries.
* Support wider Transport Control Centre functions, primarily monitoring, and leverage customer service monitoring skills in car parks.
* Deputise for the Control Centre Team Leader(s) as required.
Qualifications & Training
* BTEC Level 3 in Traffic Enforcement.
* BTEC Level 3 Principles and Practices in CCTV Operation.
* BTEC Level 2 working as a CCTV operator.
