Band 6

Hours: 37.5 per week

An opportunity has arisen within this busy Pathology service to join the Blood Science (Chemical Pathology) team. Do you have experience working as a Biomedical Scientist in a Chemistry Laboratory? Would you like to join a hardworking, caring and collaborative team?

The post holder will work as part of a dedicated team of Biomedical Scientists within the Chemical Pathology department, delivering a high-quality, efficient and responsive diagnostic service in line with MKUH values of We Care, We Communicate, We Collaborate and We Contribute. Responsibilities include performing and validating complex analytical investigations on blood and other biological materials, ensuring accuracy, reliability and timely reporting of results to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

The successful candidate will maintain competence across all analytical platforms, troubleshoot instrumentation, uphold quality assurance standards, and participate in internal and external quality schemes.

They will also contribute to the training and supervision of junior staff, assist with method development and service improvement, and participate in the 24/7 service to ensure continuity of patient care in accordance with Trust and national standards.

The post holder will be part of a team of Biomedical Scientists delivering a diagnostic service analysing and reporting on blood, urine, faeces and other materials to achieve the objectives of efficient and effective patient care, and effective resource management within the hospital.

The post holder will undertake their responsibilities within the Chemical Pathology department to meet all required national and Trust standards.
