The Hays Bristol finance team are currently recruiting for a finance manager role for a well-established global engineeringpany.
This role will have 5 direct reports, reporting to the businesses group financial controller and will require close collaboration with Group Finance. You will be the finance lead for the Bristol site and be part of the site management team – working closely with all functional heads of department, which will give you some great exposure to projects & continuous improvement across the business.
Skills required:
3. Qualified Accountant with strong technical andmercial grounding
4. Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with experience in FP&A, budgeting, and variance analysis within a manufacturing environment
5. Proven ability to lead and develop a diverse finance team, while fostering collaboration, clearmunication, and strong alignment with Group Finance to ensure consistent reporting andpliance
6. Excellentmunication and interpersonal skills to operate as a key member of the site senior management team
7. Strong IT proficiency, including ERP systems (IFS or similar) and Excel
Job specification:
8. Owning the site’s full P&L and balance sheet, managing key accounting processes and leading the accounting team to deliver accurate month-end close and insightful variance analysis, with this role responsible for the final review and sign-off of monthly accounts
9. Lead the annual budgeting cycle while providing insightful and actionable analysis to site/Group leadership on sales performance, RMS% and other cost drivers to guidemercial decisions.Lead, motivate, and empower the site accounting and credit control team – fostering collaboration, developing capability, and driving process efficiency to deliver high-quality ouesOversee credit control team to manage site credit risk, ensuring policypliance, timely collections, and proactive working capital management Act as the site’s working capital steward, overseeing cash inflows and outflows, optimising collections (DSO) and supplier payments (DPO), and driving initiatives to improve liquidity Support stock accuracy by overseeing stock counts, monitoring stock KPIs, and ensuring a robust system of financial control around inventory processesProvide proactive finance support to the business by resolving day-to-day queries, partnering on strategic initiatives and projects, and acting as a key member of the site senior management team to drive long-term performance improvement.Ensure strict adherence to Group policies and statutory requirements through robust controls, reconciliations, and audit readinessTake ownership of recurringpliance filings – including VAT returns, Intrastat submissions, payroll reporting, and pension filings – ensuring accuracy and timeliness through a mix of personal execution and team coordination.Drive Finance’s role in the business by coordinating team efforts to embed KPIs, streamline processes, and deliver continuous improvement across the siteAct as the site lead for the external audit engagement, coordinating all requirements and ensuring a smooth, timely, and fullypliant annual statutory audit cycleSupport the business in relation to general development or ad-hoc projects and issues
