Temporary Works Coordinator – Infrastructure
Location – United Kingdom
What you will be doing:
1. Co-ordinate all temporary works activities.
2. Ensure a temporary works register is established and maintained.
3. Ensure that information relevant to the temporary works has been received from the client, principal designer and permanent works designer as appropriate.
4. Ensure that design briefs are prepared with consultation within the project team and that it is both adequate and in accordance with the actual situation on site.
5. Ensure that any other temporary works in the vicinity are referenced in the design brief.
6. Ensure that the design brief is issued to the TWD for satisfactory temporary works design to be carried out.
7. Ensure that the design check is carried out by someone not involved in the original design.
8. Where appropriate, ensure that information on the certified temporary works design is made available to other interested parties, the principal designer and/or the designer of the permanent works, and, where required to the client.
9. Register and record the drawings, calculations and other relevant documents relating to the final design.
10. Ensure that the relevant client and/or third party approvals, required by the contract have been received.
11. Ensure that those responsible for on-site supervision receive all the details of the design, any residual risks, including any limitations and guidance notes associated with it and ensure that a specific method statement, which details safe of work is prepared.
12. Ensure that inspection and test plans are prepared, with appropriate quality control check lists.
13. Ensure that any proposed changes in materials or construction are checked against the original design and appropriate action taken.
14. Ensure that checks, inspections and tests are made at appropriate stages.
15. Advise the designer of any changes or modifications to the scheme or differences from the envisaged conditions.
16. In the event that any inspections are carried out, reveal discrepancies between the certified and as constructed temporary works, prevent loading (or unloading) until the discrepancies have been rectified to their satisfaction.
17. Ensure that a permit to load or proceed is issued after a final check which is satisfactory by either the PC’s TWC or TWS
18. Ensure that during the use of temporary works all appropriate maintenance is carried out.
19. Ensure that a permit to unload or proceed the temporary works is issued, when it has been confirmed that the permanent structure has attained adequate strength and/or stability by either the PC’s TWC or TWS.
20. Ensure that a documented safe system of work is in place and implemented for the dismantling of any temporary works.
21. Ensure that any relevant information for the health and safety file is transmitted to the principal designer.
