GROUNDWORK TOPMAN – DRAINAGE & REMEDIAL WORKS ROLE OVERVIEW We are looking for an experienced Groundwork Topman to join our drainage and remedial works teams on a major project in East Sussex. The role involves supporting drainage operations, carrying out remedial and making good works, cleaning manholes, and working within confined spaces while maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and workmanship. Candidates must hold a valid Confined Spaces qualification and have experience working within drainage and groundwork environments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Supporting drainage gangs with all aspects of drainage and remedial groundwork activities Carrying out remedial works, reinstatement, and making good following drainage installations and repairs Cleaning manholes, chambers, and drainage systems safely and effectively Working within confined spaces in line with site procedures and safety regulations Assisting with excavation support, pipe laying, backfilling, and reinstatement works Working safely around live services including electric, gas, water, and telecoms infrastructure Following permit-to-dig systems, confined space procedures, and safe systems of work Supporting machine operators, supervisors, and site teams to maintain productivity Using hand tools, small plant, and groundwork equipment safely and effectively Maintaining safe, clean, and organised working areas at all times Following all site health & safety procedures and reporting hazards where required REQUIREMENTS Proven experience in drainage, remedial works, and traditional groundworks Valid Confined Spaces qualification (essential) Valid CSCS Card Experience working within excavation and drainage environments Good understanding of drainage and reinstatement procedures Safety Critical Medical (site specific) Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within site teams Strong awareness of health & safety standards Right to work in the UK DESIRABLE EUSR / Cat & Genny qualifications CPCS / NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper Experience cleaning and maintaining manholes and drainage systems Experience with reinstatement, making good, and external works 5 years’ groundwork and drainage experience Please note: to comply with client requirements, we can only accept NPORS cards that are CSCS-affiliated and carry the CSCS hologram.
