H9 Talent Solutions are exclusively partnered with FCC Environment to deliver their O&M team for the Lostock Sustainable Energy Project. We are currently hiring for a Mechanical Maintenance Team Lead to work at their new build EfW plant in Northwich where you will be responsible for managing, developing, and coordinating the team and activities required to meet operational and engineering targets in a dynamic, safety-first environment.
Role and Responsibilities:
* Leading the Mechanical maintenance team and supporting the Maintenance Manager with day-to-day operations
* Coordinating planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance across plant equipment
* Overseeing maintenance contractors and support organisations
* Developing staff through appraisals, training, and dual-skilling initiatives
* Planning and managing outages, budgets, and maintenance of critical mechanical spares
* Dealing with the written scheme of examination and pressure parts legislation, ensuring all parts of Lostock plant stay compliant.
* Maintaining quality control and adherence to HSE standards, actively participating in HSE initiatives and forums
* Supporting other UK stations if required and standing in for the Maintenance Manager when needed
* Driving improvements in plant operations, team performance, and system reliability
* Managing maintenance projects and contributing to the overall success of the EfW operation
* Contributing to improvement projects, streamlining maintenance processes and enhancing system safety
* Being on-call and providing leadership during dynamic conditions (e.g., plant start-ups or faults)
Experience:
* Proven leadership and team development experience
* Strong knowledge of thermal plant processes, steam cycle chemistry, and rotating/mechanical equipment
* Familiarity with safety rules, permit systems, and compliance monitoring
* Good commercial awareness including experience managing budgets and contracts
* Comfortable reading and interpreting technical drawings and maintenance documentation
* Motivated, hands-on leader with strong organisational and people management skills
* Collaborative and approachable personality with the ability to inspire and guide a team
* Able to thrive in a performance-driven environment and work flexibly when needed
* Confident communicator with excellent verbal and written skills
* Strong problem-solving abilities with a detail-oriented approach
* Commitment to high health & safety and environmental standards
* Proactive, adaptable mindset with a drive to improve operational effectiveness
Qualifications:
* HNC/HND or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical preferred)
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory mechanical maintenance role within a power plant or similar heavy industrial environment
* IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (preferred) or strong working knowledge of HSE principles
* Experience with CMMS and Microsoft Office software
