Job Title: Design Engineer
As a design engineer, you'll develop ideas for new products and production systems, and improve the performance and efficiency of existing products.
Qualifications: Ideally, candidates should have a degree and a minimum of 3 years of industrial experience. However, candidates with other qualifications and strong engineering design experience will also be considered for the role.
Responsibilities:
1. Transform research ideas into detailed production-ready designs.
2. Re-engineer existing designs for better manufacturability to optimize production time.
3. Prepare and present engineering reports and specifications.
4. Create engineering drawings adhering to relevant trailer legislation and safety standards.
5. Mentor junior design engineers and participate in design review meetings.
6. Apply Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles to work practices.
Requirements:
* Strong problem-solving skills and team orientation.
* Practical hands-on approach.
* Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk products.
* Knowledge of MS Office and in-house computer systems.
* Understanding of design stress/loading calculations, FEA, fatigue, and induced stresses.
* Solid grasp of engineering and design principles.
* Familiarity with trailer manufacturing processes and construction methods.
* Ability to understand customer needs and work outside normal hours if necessary.
* Awareness of design's cost impact.
* Excellent communication skills and commitment to high-quality work.
* Knowledge of health and safety policies.
