Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Manager will play a key role in maintaining compliance with Regulatory conditions, CASS requirements, and Apprenticeship Assessment regulatory frameworks, ensuring robust quality assurance and risk management across all provision.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Quality Assurance
Implement, and monitor the effectiveness of internal and external quality assurance strategies for both regulated qualifications and apprentice assessments.
Lead the continual development and oversight of the Centre Assessment Standards Scrutiny (CASS) strategy to ensure centre-assessed qualifications meet regulatory expectations.
Produce and analyse management information and quality assurance data to identify trends, inform strategic decisions, and drive continuous improvement.
Operational Quality Assurance
Coordinate and oversee all IQA and EQA activities, ensuring they are timely, compliant, and aligned with agreed procedures.
Communicate QA outcomes to internal stakeholders, including the Customer Support team.
Provide support, advice and guidance to recognised centres, potential new customers and External Quality Assurers on quality assurance issues and deliver and arrange staff development sessions as appropriate.
Maintain oversight of sampling strategies, data integrity checks, and certification accuracy to safeguard compliant awarding processes
Lead preparation and evidence collation for regulatory monitoring, audits, and investigations
Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure all quality assurance processes comply with the requirements and positive indicators of Ofqual, Qualification Scotland Accreditation, Qualifications Wales, and CCEA.
Manage the investigation and resolution of incidents, issues, appeals, and complaints in line with organisational policies.
Identify quality risks and implement corrective and preventative actions to mitigate recurrence.
Lead malpractice and maladministration investigations in accordance with regulatory expectations
Workforce Development and Standardisation
Manage the induction, training, and ongoing standardisation of the EQA workforce.
Support the standardisation and calibration of end-point assessors to ensure consistent and fair assessment decisions.
Monitor EQA, IQA and assessor performance against KPIs, taking action where performance falls below expected standards
Manage the Facilitator register, ensuring approved delivery staff records are kept up to date.
Ensure conflicts of interest are proactively managed and recorded
Regulatory Engagement and Continuous Improvement
Stay informed of changes in the regulatory landscape and assess their impact on organisational operations.
Support thematic reviews and contribute to the development of quality improvement initiatives across the organisation.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
GCSE education in English and Mathematics (Grade C or above) or equivalent
Hold a relevant Assessor, Internal & External Verifier Award, or have equivalent demonstrable experience in the Education and/or Awarding sector
Proven experience of internal and/or external verification of qualifications
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks within vocational qualifications
Demonstrable experience working within a awarding organisation, apprenticeship assessment organisation and/or a training provider
Understanding of assessment validity, reliability, comparability, and risk based quality assurance
Desired Quilfications & Experience
Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile).
Experience with EPA-specific platforms such as EPAPro or ACE360
