£45,000 (up to £56,000 per year inc. TRONC)
We are looking for an experienced and driven General Manager to lead the launch and day-to-day operations of our exciting new restaurant and bar concept in Chester's historic town centre. This is a hands-on leadership role for a passionate individual who thrives in dynamic environments and brings out the best in their team.
As General Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing a large team, managing all aspects of service, team performance, and business outcomes. You will lead by example, setting high standards of care, integrity, and attention to detail across every touchpoint—from kitchen to customer experience.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Lead, inspire, and manage a large team of 40+ across Front of House and Back of House, promoting a collaborative and respectful culture.
* Deliver outstanding service by prioritising personalisation, emotional connection, and genuine hospitality.
* Instilling a culture of care, honesty, passion, and integrity in both staff and environment.
* Maintain exceptional standards in cleanliness, presentation, and operational discipline.
* Build and develop your team through structured training, mentorship, and performance management
* Take full financial ownership of labour costs, P&L and budgeting, ensuring targets are met without compromising experience.
* Solve problems proactively with calm, creative solutions and a focus on long-term success.
* Ensure clear communication and strong organisation, keeping all departments aligned and accountable.
* Familiarity with EHO standards, licensing, fire safety, and risk assessments.
Essential Experience
* At least two years' experience as a General Manager in a busy city-centre restaurant
* Have managed 40+ employees
Desirable Experience
* Background in new venue set ups and openings.
* Leading high-volume hospitality businesses.
* Training and structuring new teams from scratch.
* Passion for mentoring and developing people in line with business values.
* Proven ability to adapt quickly, make confident decisions, and stay calm under pressure.
