Great Western Air Ambulance Charity saves lives in our communities, and with your help we could reach even more people. Join our governance team and make a difference.


What difference will you make?

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity is dispatched to over 2,000 patients a year who need our help due to serious illness or injury. We train around 10,000 people in CPR each year, place dozens of publicly accessible defibrillators with the help of local communities, provide training for land ambulance crews, and train the next generation of Critical Care Doctors and Paramedics. We are involved in clinical research and share our experiences worldwide. We support dozens of former patients and bereaved families. Join us to help us be there for everyone.


What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who shares our Values and is committed to our cause. We are also seeking people with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

* Company Secretary or similar knowledge and expertise
* HR including equality, diversity and inclusion
* Planning, construction, health and safety and facilities management
* Fundraising
* Helicopter aviation
* Health policy and systems


What will you be doing?

We are looking for Trustees and a Company Secretary who understand how excellent boards work and how to help wonderful organisations become even better. You should be able to understand complex information and ask key questions in a way that is supportive yet challenging. Most importantly, you should share our Values—Collaborative, Dedicated, Curious and Compassionate. We do not require a large time commitment, as our professional management team handles week-to-week running, but you should have time to carry out your duties well. The average time commitment is around an hour per week, though this can vary and you may need to make time in the working day occasionally with good notice. We prefer in-person meetings when possible, and you will need to engage with key stakeholders or attend events. Because of our community focus, you should be local to the area we serve (Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and parts of Wiltshire).
