About The Role

Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking a compassionate, professional, and emotionally intelligent Bereavement Consultant to join our dedicated Bereavement Services team at Haycombe Cemetery & Crematorium. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents during their most vulnerable moments.

As a Bereavement Consultant, you will provide expert guidance and empathetic support to families and individuals navigating the complexities of loss. You’ll help ensure that every interaction with our service is respectful, dignified, and tailored to the needs of the bereaved.


Key Responsibilities

* Offer sensitive and informed advice to bereaved families regarding the services we offer including memorial options and sales
* Liaise with funeral directors, celebrants, and other stakeholders to coordinate services
* Providing administrative and finance support to the Service to include invoice processing
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and council policies
* Support the delivery of ceremonies and services at Haycombe Cemetery & Crematorium
* Contribute to service improvements and uphold the highest standards of care and professionalism


About You

You will have:

* A warm, empathetic communicator with experience in bereavement care, counselling, or funeral services
* Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a real team player
* Ability to work calmly under pressure and handle sensitive situations with discretion
* Familiarity with legislative procedures and best practices in a commercial or administrative environment
