Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Assistant. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial management and accounting, with a proven ability to lead financial planning and analysis efforts. This role requires a strategic thinker who can manage financial services effectively while ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Finance Assistant will play a crucial role in overseeing accounts payable, cost control, and overall financial health of the organisation.
Responsibilities
* Processing payments, invoices, income and receipts and entering data into accounting software.
* Reconciliation of company bank accounts
* Processing of purchase orders including preparing payments
* Posting of sales and purchase invoices
* Bank reconciliations
* Balance sheet reconciliations
* Posting journals
* Reconciliation of sales commissions
* Preparation of VAT returns
* Credit Control
* Monthly posting of prepayments and accruals.
* Posting of stock movements and wastage.
* Maintain daily cashflow spreadsheet, monitoring cashflow
* Prepare and submit VAT returns ensuring accurate compliance.
* Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
* Providing weekly sales, and gross margin reports to the management team, identifying key areas for improvement.
* Maintaining the fixed asset register and posting depreciation journals.
* Assisting with month and year end financials
* Processing employee payroll and ensuring all statutory compliance is completed.
* Managing employee expense claims.
Experience
* Strong Attention to Detail: Skilled in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, identifying discrepancies, and maintaining data integrity.
* Advanced Numerical Proficiency: Solid foundation in mathematics, enabling precise calculations and analytical review of financial data.
* Organisational & Administrative Expertise: Proficient in maintaining systematic and accurate filing of financial documents and records.
* Technologically Proficient: Highly competent with spreadsheets, databases, and financial software
* Effective Multi-tasking & Time Management: Able to prioritise and manage multiple responsibilities in fast-paced environments to meet tight deadlines.
* Strong Interpersonal & Customer Service Skills: Adept at liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers to support business operations.
* Clear & Confident Communicator: Capable of presenting complex financial data and insights in a clear, concise, and accessible manner to both financial and non-financial audiences.
* Resilient Under Pressure: Demonstrates the ability to perform and make sound decisions in high-pressure and time-sensitive situations.
QualificatIons Required
* AAT Level 3
* Minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above to include Maths and English
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 25 per week
