As a specialist hospitality recruiter, Im excited to be working exclusively with The Diplomat Hotel, a well-established and highly respected 3-star hotel nestled in the heart of Llanelli. Were now looking to appoint a passionate, experienced Second Chef to join their dynamic kitchen team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Sous Chef or experienced CDP ready to take the next step in their career. Youll work closely with the Head Chef, take ownership in their absence, and play a key role in delivering both à la carte and function-style menus.
The Role: Second Chef
Salary: £15 per hour + tips
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Hours: 35+ hours per week | Split shifts (10am2pm / 5:30pm10pm)
Overtime: Available
Holidays: 28 days
Live-in: Not available
Location: On-site must be commutable to SA15 3PJ (driving licence preferred due to rural location)
️ Key Responsibilities:
* Support and assist the Head Chef in daily operations
* Lead the kitchen in the Head Chefs absence
* Prepare high-quality dishes for the à la carte menu and function events
* Manage kitchen orders and stock control
* Conduct regular stock takes and place food orders as needed
* Maintain kitchen hygiene and cleanliness to the highest standards
* Work collaboratively with a team of 4 kitchen staff
* Mentor junior chefs and support training
About You:
Must-Have:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a professional kitchen
* Solid experience with menu planning and prep
* Confident in managing kitchen operations independently
* Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
* Flexible and reliable with a genuine passion for food
Nice-to-Have:
* Relevant culinary qualifications
* Function and banqueting experience
* Own transport (due to location)
