About Recce
Recce is a new social media platform designed to change how people discover and share films and TV. We're building a community powered by word-of-mouth recommendations, rewarding users for sharing content they love. With beta apps launching on iOS and Android, and a full launch on the horizon, we're looking for a Publicist to join us at this exciting stage
.
Launch Timeline
* Early October 2025:
Soft beta launch (week 1 of October)
- Late November 2025:
Full UK launch & launch party (same week)
Mission
Create national buzz and meaningful, mainstream UK media coverage for Recce's beta and full launch, earned-first, smart with spend, and set up to scale internationally.
Core Responsibilities
Launch Comms Strategy
* Build an integrated PR plan for beta + full launch (angles, audiences, timelines, budgets).
* Define media narratives tied to Recce's mission (trust, curation, cutting through choice overload).
Press Office Setup
* Create and manage a tiered
UK media list
(national news, culture/entertainment, tech/business, consumer, radio/TV).
- Own the press desk: inbound/outbound, interview logistics, reactive opportunities.
Assets & Materials
* Draft all press materials: media advisory, beta and full launch press releases, founder Q&A/brief, op-ed/byline, fact sheet, app notes, boilerplate.
* Build a lightweight press kit (logo/brand, founder bio, product shots, screeners, B-roll).
Founder Platform
* Secure interviews and thought-leadership (TV/radio slots, podcasts, print/online features).
* Provide media training, talking points, and prep packs for Jim and spokespeople.
Event PR (Launch Party)
* Lead invite strategy for press/creators/industry; manage red-carpet/photo call moments.
* Coordinate with shortlisted hosts (TBC) and align coverage moments with stage beats.
Influencer & Talent Liaison
* Collaborate with our in-house shortlist to convert creators into coverage and social proofs.
* Negotiate smart, budget-aware activations (gifting, screenings, content swaps).
Partnerships & Stunts
* Identify scrappy, high-impact ideas (pop-ups, screenings, cinema tie-ins) to earn attention.
Measurement & Reporting
* Set KPIs, track coverage, compile weekly updates and a post-launch wrap with learnings.
Key Deliverables (Oct-Nov 2025)
* PR launch plan
with calendar, angles, and target outlets (beta + full launch).
- Complete press toolkit
(releases, media advisory, FAQs, boilerplate, founders bios, product images).
- Tiered media list
with contact strategy and briefing status.
- Confirmed media moments
for beta week (at least 5 targeted hits) and full launch week (national + broadcast priority).
- Event PR run-of-show
(red-carpet plan, photo opps, interview grid).
- Weekly coverage report
and final post-launch impact report with links/clips.
Success Metric (Indicative)
* Earned coverage:
25–40 quality mentions across national/consumer/tech/entertainment, including 3–5 top-tier nationals and 2–3 broadcast/podcast appearances.
- Message pull-through:
≥70% inclusion of core messages (choice overload, trusted reviews, word-of-mouth).
- Launch week visibility:
Strong presence across at least one national print/online feature and one TV/radio hit.
- Event outcomes:
Photo set and at least 10 notable media/creator attendees generating coverage or social posts.
- Efficiency:
High SOV vs. spend; clear playbook for ongoing UK/intl roll-out.
Profile We're Looking for
* 6–10+ years in consumer tech/entertainment PR with mainstream UK media relationships.
* Proven app or platform launch experience; comfort with fast-moving startups and lean budgets.
* Strong news sense and headline writing; can shape data/insight into stories.
* Confident booking TV/radio and prepping founders for live segments.
* Event PR chops (press lines, photo desks, asset turnarounds).
* Comfortable collaborating with creators/talent and negotiating cost-smart activations.
* Hands-on, independent operator who can both plan and execute.
Budget
* Contract:
~30 days across Sept–Oct 2025 (flexible structure—e.g., 3–4 days/week or front-loaded).
- Fees:
Please propose a day rate and an all-in project fee for Sept–Oct, plus an optional
retainer
for Nov–Dec (full launch month) and beyond.
- Expenses:
Pre-approved OOP (wire services if needed, photography, travel, event PR needs).
- Tools:
We'll provide brand assets, product access, and spokespeople; you bring your press CRM/workflow.
