Job Description Job Title: Hybrid Façade and Rainscreen Designer Location: Watford, Hertfordshire (Hybrid – 3 days from home, 2 days office-based) Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role We are seeking an experienced Façade and Rainscreen Designer to join our growing design team. This hybrid position offers the flexibility of working three days from home and two days in the office, providing the ideal balance between collaboration and focused design work. The successful candidate will have proven experience in rainscreen cladding systems, combined with strong technical knowledge of façade design, detailing, and materials. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver high-quality design solutions from concept through to completion. Key Responsibilities • Produce detailed 2D and 3D façade design drawings for tender, construction, and fabrication stages. • Develop rainscreen cladding system designs, including bracketry, subframes, insulation, and fixings. • Ensure designs comply with building regulations, fire safety requirements, and industry standards. • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and contractors to resolve design interfaces. • Review and interpret architectural drawings and specifications. • Prepare technical schedules, material take-offs, and design documentation. • Assist in the development and standardisation of in-house design processes. • Participate in design review meetings, providing input on constructability and value engineering. • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards. Key Requirements • Proven experience in rainscreen façade design – essential. • Strong understanding of façade systems, materials (aluminium, composite panels, terracotta, stone, etc.), and fixing methods. • Proficiency in AutoCAD (3D/2D); experience with Revit, SolidWorks, or similar software advantageous. • Good knowledge of BS EN standards, CWCT guidelines, and fire performance requirements for façade systems. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, architectural plans, and specifications. • Excellent communication and coordination skills. • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to design accuracy.
