Role Description
As Senior Project Manager, you will lead and shape a complex, long‑term nuclear programme at an early stage of its lifecycle in the defence business unit. You will set strategic direction, oversee governance, and guide multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, sustainable, and cost‑effective outcomes.
Based at Bristol Technology Centre; 37 hrs/week; hybrid working patterns available.
Day‑to‑day Responsibilities
* Lead large‑scale nuclear projects and programmes, ensuring delivery against cost, schedule, quality, and safety objectives.
* Manage and develop high‑performing project teams including project managers, engineers, and graduates.
* Drive robust governance, assurance, and reporting in line with internal and customer expectations.
* Engage confidently with senior stakeholders, clients, and joint venture partners across organisations.
* Shape programme strategy through lifecycle planning, cost forecasting, and risk management.
Essential Experience
* Delivering complex projects or programmes valued at £10‑15 million or above.
* Managing projects with multiple stakeholders, including joint ventures and matrix organisations.
* Working within regulated or high‑hazard environments, ideally nuclear or defence.
* Leading teams with a clear, self‑aware leadership style that drives accountability and performance.
* Influencing at senior level with customers and internal decision‑makers.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering, project management, construction management, or related discipline.
* Membership of a recognised project management body, e.g. Association for Project Management.
* Chartered Project Professional status or working toward chartership is advantageous.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
