Join Our Team as Head of Special Operations
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Trust Resilience team as Head of Special Operations. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Resilience, the Head of Special Operations is responsible for leading, managing, developing, and setting the strategic direction of Special Operations.
The role includes ensuring compliance with obligations under Statute, NHS England Commissioning arrangements, contract standards—including adherence to the core standards within the Emergency Preparedness Resilience and Response Framework—CQC standards, Multi-Agency Agreements, and other obligations.
Main Duties of the Job
* Lead, manage, develop, and direct all Trust special operations response capabilities, ensuring they meet local, regional, and national requirements.
* Provide visible and empowering leadership to operational staff, management teams, and wider command structures.
* Build and maintain effective partnerships with emergency service partners at all levels and with the wider health community.
* Undertake on-call duties as a National Interagency Liaison Officer (NILO).

* Oversee the Special Operations Clinical Lead
* Manage the HART Operations Manager

Person Specification
Qualifications and Education
* Masters level education or equivalent experience; post-graduate diploma in Management Studies or similar; relevant professional development training.
* National Interagency Liaison Officer (NILO) qualification or working towards it.
* State Registered Paramedic qualification.
* Completion of CBRN Provider, Operational, and Tactical Command Courses.
* Full UK driving license and registration on the National Blue Light Driving Register or working towards it.
* Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and leadership qualities.
* Management, motivation, and team development skills.
* Analytical and decision-making skills for complex situations.
* Recognized training and debriefing qualifications, Ambulance Intervention Team Commander, and specialist qualifications related to the HART Programme.
Knowledge and Experience
* Understanding of the Trust’s purpose, vision, and values.
* Knowledge of national policies for Special Operations.
* Experience with HR policies, collaborative working, and continuous professional development.
* Experience managing service line budgets.
