Job Introduction

Oxfordshire County Council is looking for a motivated and talented Planning Officer to join our Minerals and Waste Policy and Strategy Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of minerals and waste in Oxfordshire—supporting the preparation of the new Minerals and Waste Plan and contributing to the delivery of sustainable development across the county.

About The Role

As a Planning Officer, you will support the Team in preparing and delivering the Minerals and Waste Plan and related policy work. You will be involved in a wide range of activities, including:

* Evidence gathering, data collation, monitoring and analysis
* Supporting the preparation of Minerals and Waste Plan, supporting documents and Examination materials
* Assisting with public consultations and stakeholder engagement
* Preparing responses to district Local Plans, planning applications and other consultations
* Supporting GIS work and handling technical planning information

This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of plan‑making, with the opportunity to work on strategic issues including mineral supply, waste management, and major development proposals.

About You

* Has a relevant degree or equivalent experience in planning or a related field
* Can analyse information, solve problems and use initiative
* Communicates clearly and can produce concise, high‑quality reports
* Is well organised, detail‑oriented and able to meet deadlines
* Is confident using Microsoft Office
* Experience or interest in minerals and waste planning

This is an exciting time for planning in Oxfordshire, with a new Minerals and Waste Plan underway and significant projects shaping the county’s future. You’ll gain valuable experience working on complex and high‑profile issues within a supportive and collaborative team.

Rewards & Benefits

* Flexible and agile working arrangements
* Opportunities for professional development and career progression
* The chance to make a real impact on Oxfordshire’s future
