A fast-scaling AI product company is looking for a Senior Backend Developer to help build and scale a next-generation platform. This is a high-impact role within a small, ambitious engineering team, suited to someone who enjoys ownership and building robust systems from the ground up.
Role: Senior Backend Developer
Salary: £90,000 - £100,000
Location: Hybrid in London office (1 day per week Max)
What you’ll be doing:
* Design and build scalable, production-grade backend systems
* Develop high-performance APIs and event-driven architectures
* Work with GraphQL and modern backend frameworks to power core product features
* Ensure reliability through monitoring, logging and resilient system design
* Collaborate closely with product, frontend and design teams to ship features end-to-end
* Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform scales
* Support AI and LLM-driven functionality within the product
What you’ll need:
* Strong commercial experience with NodeJS
* Experience with GraphQL, ideally within a structured backend framework
* Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and data modelling
* Strong system design skills and understanding of scalable architecture
* Experience building secure, enterprise-ready APIs
* Exposure to AI or LLM integrations
* Comfortable working in fast-moving, high-ownership environments
Nice to have:
* Experience with GCP
* Familiarity with infrastructure as code
* Background in a dev studio, product studio or agency environment
