The general operative role is varied and our service provides a reliable and efficient street cleansing and grounds maintenance service to the residents, businesses and visitors of the city. Tasks involve horticultural maintenance works such as grass cutting including mowing of open spaces and verges, hedge trimming, planting, pruning, weed control, leafing and all associated general gardening tasks. The role can also involve the emptying of litter and dog bins, litter picking and other cleaning tasks through both manual and mechanical means. Our teams are also responsible for rapid response to unscheduled cleansing and horticultural tasks which may include dealing with reports of dead animals, sharps (discarded needles) and other environmental hazards. Working 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday) and based at our Hazel Court depot, this is a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to the city and its communities.
Please note that this this post is temporary for a period not to exceed 12 months, providing some interim resource whilst the council reviews its structures.
