Our Why, before you get to know about Us

Greenhouse Sports is a sport for development charity, meaning we are intentional in our use of sport to strive for social change outcomes. Sport is our hook to engage young people and one of the vehicles through which we support youth development however our purpose is not to create elite athletes or address physical inactivity. Rather, through sport and mentoring, alongside additional activities, we create opportunities for young people to recognise their strengths and develop the psychological and social skills needed to thrive. Every year, Greenhouse Sports supports at least 9,000 young people to attend school more often, improve their wellbeing and raise their aspirations, transforming life chances in the communities that need it the most.

About Us

Established in 2002, Greenhouse Sports charity is leading the fight for a future where young people are supported and empowered, whatever their challenges, through sport. We coach and mentor young people from deprived backgrounds because the crisis for children living in deprivation is real and it is urgent. Children from the poorest families are 3 times more likely to not participate in any extra-curricular activities compared to those from wealthier families and they lack many opportunities that are available to their wealthier peers.

We have an exciting opportunity to join a mission driven Sport for Development charity that makes a real difference. We are also a great place to work and are proud to be a winner of the Sunday Times Best Places to Work awards for 2024, in the medium category.

The Role

We are seeking to recruit a qualified and skilled Coach Development Manager. If you are passionate about developing our coach-mentors who are tasked with developing our next generation, supporting the direct growth of life skills (Bio-psychosocial assets), and providing them with opportunities to achieve better results, better jobs, and better futures, this is the job for you. You will develop and manage our coach-mentors to plan, deliver, and capture the development of the young people we work with. Using sport as a vehicle to drive these improvements for the young people we work with, our evidence-based programme will lead them to positively contribute to themselves and the communities in which they live.

As a coach development manager, you will work directly with our coach-mentors to ensure programme safeguarding and programme delivery are of the highest possible standard. You will also work closely with our insights and partnerships teams to collect high-quality data, demonstrating the effectiveness of our work and quantifying the impact we have on our young people.

The Person

To be considered for this role, you must be a forward-focused thinker able to identify key areas for development, monitoring trends in coach development/mentoring to proactively upskill coaches. You will also demonstrate strong mentoring skills and experience, as well as being a confident and capable IT user with excellent administrative and organisational skills.

You will be highly passionate about the Greenhouse Sports mission, values and beliefs and helping coach-mentors learn and develop.

All Greenhouse Sports employees are provided with comprehensive Continuous Professional Development support and are expected to commit fully to Greenhouse's Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.

Please ensure you have provided both your CV and Cover Letter to support your application.

For initial enquiries about the role, please contact Jason Sugrue (Director of Coaching) – Jason.Sugure@greenhousesports.org

Greenhouse Sports is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children therefore applicants must be willing to undergo child protection training and screening including an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check and obtaining satisfactory references from past employers.
