Control Engineer – Offshore Wind – Outside IR35 – 12-Month Contract – ASAP Start - East Anglia
I'm supporting a major offshore wind farm project and looking for an experienced Control Engineer to join the team. You'll be operating from the control room, overseeing day to day site operations, preparing switching schedules, and ensuring compliance with HV safety rules and grid requirements.
Requirements
* Previous authorisation/experience as a Control Engineer
* Strong understanding of HV systems, wind farm assets, and HV safety rules
* Experience working to switching policies and procedures on wind farms
* Confident in using and interpreting SCADA systems
* Offshore wind experience is highly desirable
* NEBOSH / IOSH Managing Safely / CITB SMSTS (or equivalent) preferred
* Full UK driving license
Responsibilities
* Operate and monitor the wind farm power controller, manually intervening when necessary to maintain grid compliance
* Place/remove WTGs from control systems to support site works
* Respond to substation alarms, faults, and circuit breaker trips
* Prepare and implement switching programmes for energisation and ongoing works in line with legislation
* Carry out planned, reactive, and emergency switching across HV assets
* Monitor SCADA, DTS, and ancillary systems, ensuring full comms availability
* Produce and circulate daily availability and alarm reports
* Participate in operational meetings, coordinating safe work planning with SAPs/APs and contractors
* Manage outage requests, ensuring accurate planning and documentation
* Conduct analysis, troubleshooting, and investigations into alarms and faults, escalating and coordinating corrective actions where required
* Liaise with key stakeholders including project teams, contractors, and DNO/NG
