We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Capability Engineer - Process and Data Architecture, to be involved in industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station.
The Capability Engineer - Process and Data Architecture will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the engineering enterprise model, data structures, and content governance for the Engineering IMS (Integrated Management System) platform. This role supports the development and maintenance of a coherent, integrated view of engineering processes, data flows, and toolsets, enabling digital transformation and data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including digital, data, and tools and facilities teams, to ensure engineering data is structured and accessible. While the team owns the architecture and modelling of engineering data, it does not own the data itself. The engineer will be responsible for driving engagement across the business to ensure data owners contribute effectively to the enterprise model and associated standards.
This role is ideal for a pro-active, systems thinker with a passion for digital engineering, data architecture, and continuous improvement. It offers the opportunity to influence the future of engineering capability within a high-profile, regulated environment.
Key Results & What can be achieved in the role
Short-Term (0 –6 months):
* Understand and document the current state of the Engineering IMS platform and enterprise model.
* Support the update and governance of engineering content within the IMS.
* Assist in defining and applying metadata standards and taxonomies.
* Build relationships with key stakeholders across engineering and digital teams.
Medium-Term (6–12 months):
* Contribute to the development of an integrated enterprise model covering processes, data, and tools.
* Support workshops to validate and evolve the model with cross-functional teams.
* Implement improvements to data discoverability and accessibility.
* Begin supporting digital use cases through improved data structures predominately focused on business metrics development.
Long-Term (12+ months):
* Help drive the organisation towards a data-driven engineering culture.
* Enable advanced analytics and AI use cases through robust data architecture.
* Continuously improve the IMS platform and enterprise model based on user feedback and performance metrics.
* Be recognised as a subject matter expert in engineering data architecture and governance.

* Support the design, development, and deployment of new IMS features for engineering.
* Maintain content accuracy and alignment with IMS structures.
* Implement governance for content lifecycle (creation, review, release).
* Monitor platform usage and drive continuous improvement.
* Experience with HTML, CSS and Markdown desirable.
Enterprise Model and Process Mapping
* Assist in developing and maintaining a comprehensive enterprise model.
* Map engineering processes, data flows, and tool integrations.
* Facilitate workshops to validate and evolve the model.
* Experience with Sparx Enterprise Architect (or similar MBSE tool) required.
Data Architecture and Governance
* Define and apply engineering data taxonomies and metadata standards.
* Ensure interoperability of data across systems and tools.
* Support integration with enterprise data platforms.
* Provide guidance on data modelling and database design.
Digital Enablement and Use Case Support
* Collaborate with digital and data teams to support advanced use cases.
* Ensure data structures support analytics, metrics, and AI applications.
* Own and maintain high-level engineering metrics.
* Drive initiatives to improve data quality, discoverability, and accessibility.
* Experience with Python and Power Platform required.
Stakeholder Engagement and Continuous Improvement
* Engage with engineering teams to understand needs and priorities.
* Support cross-functional improvement initiatives within scope of teams work.
* Promote adoption of the IMS and enterprise model.
* Contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Training & Qualification Requirements
* Engineering (or related topic) degree desirable but not required.

Pay and benefits
We anticipate paying a salary of between £48,000 - £62,500 DOE plus:-
* Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 12.5%
* Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
* Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
* Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
* Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
* Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
* £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
