Essential Requirements
• Minimum 6 months experience within children’s residential or similar setting
• Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Ability to work both days and nights including sleep ins
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
• Full right to work in the UK
The Role
You will be supporting boys and girls aged 7 to 13 within a small children’s residential home in Burnley. This is a hands on role where consistency, resilience and emotional intelligence are critical.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs
• Managing and de escalating challenging behaviour
• Providing day to day structure and routine
• Cooking meals and supporting with household tasks
• Cleaning and maintaining a safe and homely environment
• Supporting with activities, school runs, appointments and community outings
• Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging personal development
• Keeping children engaged, supported and safe at all times
This role requires someone who can remain composed under pressure, build trust quickly and create a stable environment for young people who need reliability and care.
