Could you be the person who brings energy, drive, and real impact to our communities, tackling challenges head-on and making every day count? If you're someone who's passionate about making a difference in your community, enjoys problem-solving, and thrives in a varied and dynamic role, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
We're looking for someone who's adaptable, curious, and ready to contribute to a team that works across Environmental Enforcement, Housing, and Highways.
Role Description
This role sits within the Environmental Health and Housing Team and involves supporting a broad range of regulatory functions. You'll be helping to deliver services that protect public health, improve housing standards, and ensure compliance with aspects of highway enforcement. It's a hands-on role where you'll be involved in inspections, investigations, enforcement actions, and community engagement.
Your day will be varied and hands-on, involving tasks such as assisting with housing inspections, preparing case files, and investigating complaints from the public. You'll gather evidence, support community projects, and take part in enforcement visits. A key part of your role will be advising tenants, landlords, and businesses on regulatory matters, as well as processing licence applications and issuing documentation.
Responsibilities and Requirements
In addition to your core responsibilities within your day-to-day role, you will also be expected to undertake and successfully complete a Regulatory Compliance qualification. We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in regulation and enforcement, someone who communicates clearly and confidently, can manage conflict, and solve problems effectively. You'll need to be organised, adaptable, and capable of working independently across a variety of settings. A full driving licence is essential, as is the flexibility to work across different sites and occasionally outside of core hours. You should also hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
Why Join Us?
Because this isn't just a job, it's a chance to be part of something bigger. At North East Lincolnshire Council, you'll join a team that's committed to protecting environmental health, improving housing standards, and making our communities safer and stronger. You'll be supported to grow, contribute meaningfully, and make a real impact every day.
Benefits
As part of your RewardNEL package, you will have a generous leave entitlement (including bank holidays) and enrolment into a local government pension. You will also have access to our exclusive RewardNEL platform, which includes a variety of salary sacrifice schemes, discounts at local coffee shops and bars, direct access to our in-house wellbeing support, free and discounted local car parking, and instant access to new savings at major retailers, entertainment, and hotels.
