Job Summary
Join our friendly pharmacy clinical trials team. We provide pharmacy support for the expanding Research and Development work of University Hospital of Liverpool Group, with a large portfolio of studies requiring input from the pharmacy department. We are involved in trials across many clinical specialties and manage the CTIMP portfolio for the Walton Centre for Neurology and Liverpool Women’s Hospital. We work with external sponsors such as pharmaceutical companies, universities and local research units in the management of IMP. You will be based on the Phase 1 Clinical Research Facility at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, involved in the setup and management of Phase 1 studies. You will be based on the CRF satellite pharmacy where you will assist in the maintenance of trial drugs, dispensing, labelling and checking of clinical trial drugs, recording drug accountability and investigating discrepancies, and temperature monitoring of areas storing clinical trial medication. You will meet with external trial representatives during monitoring visits to discuss the conduct of the trials at site. Full in-house training will be given.
For the Band 5 post you must be a qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC and have experience of working in Clinical Trials. You must be an accredited accuracy checker.
Main duties of the job
* Based at the Royal Liverpool site with the pharmacy trials team predominately on the CRF.
* Dispensing and checking clinical trial prescriptions.
* Writing and checking of individual trial procedures.
* Receipt and management of storage of investigational medicinal products.
* Support wider trials team.
* Support cross site if required.
* Weekend and late rotas in the main dispensary.

Job Description
Job responsibilities: To facilitate the delivery of a safe and effective Phase 1 Clinical Trials service for the trust, in line with available resources. To be responsible for and participate in the delivery and maintenance on a day-to-day basis of the dispensing and checking of trials in line with resources and service demands. To work closely with the Lead CRF technician and Clinical Trials Pharmacists to develop and support clinical trial provision on the CRF and across the group.

* Aseptic skills still current
Qualifications
* B/TEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent)

* Registered as a practising Pharmacy Technician with the RPSGB
Experience
* Demonstrable post-qualification experience in hospital pharmacy
* 12 months post-registration experience in clinical trials
* Experience with a range of clinical trials
