About the Role
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will support children aged 3–5 in Nursery and Reception, working closely with the class teacher and wider Early Years team. You will play a vital role in supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing during a critical stage of their education.
You will assist with daily routines, learning activities, observations, and assessments, as well as providing targeted support for children with additional needs, including speech and language delays, social communication difficulties, and emerging SEND.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the delivery of the EYFS curriculum through engaging, play-based learning
* Assisting with phonics, early reading, mark-making, and early maths activities
* Supporting children’s communication, language, and social development
* Providing one-to-one or small group support where needed
* Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
* Assisting children with personal care, toileting, and daily routines
* Observing and recording children’s progress against EYFS outcomes
* Supporting indoor and outdoor learning environments
* Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and parents
* Promoting independence, confidence, and self-esteem
* Supporting safeguarding, health, and safety procedures
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for an EYFS Teaching Assistant who:
* Has experience working within an EYFS or nursery setting
* Demonstrates a strong understanding of early child development
* Is warm, patient, and nurturing
* Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Is flexible and proactive in supporting children’s needs
The following would be advantageous:
* Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification
* Experience supporting children with SEND in EYFS
* Knowledge of phonics programmes
