We are seeking to appoint a Staff Scientist focused on humanised in vitro models to better study mechanisms by which exposome encounters at mucosal barriers. You will develop technologies to support multiple groups within the MRC CoRE in Exposome Immunology. The Medical Research Council have awarded up to £50M over 14 years for a new Centre of Research Excellence (MRC CoRE) in Exposome Immunology, hosted jointly by the universities of Manchester and Oxford. Partnering with environmental scientists, epidemiologists, clinicians, industry, third-sector partners, patient groups and policy makers across the UK ang globally, we will create an interdisciplinary translational research network with the potential to improve the lives of those suffering with chronic inflammatory diseases.

You will contribute to research projects and raise research funds through grant applications, and manage own area of a larger research budget. You will also work collaboratively with the iPSC facility to develop research questions relating to humanised in vitro models in the context of exposome-driven chronic inflammatory disease. You will develop, establish and pursue appropriate analytical protocols and techniques to support MRC CoRE research.

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil in immunology, inflammation or a related area with post-qualification research experience. You must have a strong publication record and familiarity with existing literature in the research field. You must also possess sufficient, demonstrable specialist knowledge in humanised complex in vitro systems to independently develop and operationalise models and methodologies for a wide range of MRC CoRE projects.

Salary (£) : Research Grade 8: Salary in range £49,119 - £55,031 per annum (pro rata). This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,730 per year (pro rata).
