Overview
As a Technical Author on the UK BAT team you will draft Best Available Technique (BAT) conclusions, liaise with technical working groups and publish new UK‑wide environmental standards for the slaughterhouse and animal by‑products industry.

Responsibilities
* Draft BAT conclusions and prepare final documents for publication.
* Liaise with technical working groups, stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
* Analyse technical arguments, data and environmental legislation.
* Write technical documents and manage projects to deliver on time.
* Travel and overnight stays may be required.
Qualifications
* 5+ years experience in environmental regulation or industry (ideally slaughterhouse or animal by‑products).
* Strong understanding of the UK and EU environmental legislation (IED, Permitting Regulations).
* Specialist knowledge of the slaughterhouse and animal by‑products industry.
* Excellent project management, communication and technical writing skills.
* Ability to analyse complex industrial data and prepare persuasive technical arguments.
Experience & Skills
* Collection and technical analysis of complex industrial data.
* Understanding the implications of BAT conclusions on permits, industry and the environment.
* Verbal and written communication, building relationships.
* Planning, prioritising and organising tasks and resources to achieve results.
* Responsive to challenges and building consensus.
