To proactively lead all activities of the Material Planning and Logistics departments, including logistics personnel via team leaders, planners, and material schedulers. Responsible for ensuring the MP&L team supports production operations with supply of all parts and plans, and that all customers receive parts on time according to schedules and sequence messages. Determine how much and what type of materials and products to hold in the supply chain, including managing inventory control, warehouse distribution, and replenishment plans.
Responsibilities include:
* Manage daily activities regarding shipments, part availability, planning, and material scheduling.
* Plan and schedule plant operations to meet customer requirements while maximizing profitability.
* Anticipate customer requirements and maintain excellent relationships, including face-to-face meetings where necessary.
* Participate as part of the launch team with responsibility for logistics aspects.
* Lead the site logistics, materials planners, and schedulers teams, setting KPIs and objectives, and conducting annual appraisals.
* Ensure supplier conformance to schedules to support plant operations and escalate issues to purchasing as needed.
* Measure supplier performance and establish processes for emergency or out-of-process deliveries.
* Develop internal success metrics between logistics and operations to drive improvements.
* Monitor customer performance data and address discrepancies, especially regarding SPEEDY.
* Participate in capacity planning and resolve arising issues.
* Manage cycle counting and stock accuracy, supporting the stock controller as needed.
* Monitor inventory levels, develop procedures to optimize material flow, and minimize excess inventory costs.
* Develop and enforce policies and procedures for planning, scheduling, and logistics activities.
* Organize the structure, resources, and culture to support business objectives and customer deliverables.
* Oversee and optimize costs related to packaging and shipping arrangements.
Qualifications include:
* Educational qualifications such as A Levels, ONC, City & Guilds Level 3, Btec National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma, or equivalent NVQ Level 3.
* Experience in supervisory roles within fast-paced, high-pressure warehouse and distribution environments.
* Strong leadership and performance management skills.
* Proficiency in continuous improvement and problem-solving techniques.
* Ability to foster teamwork and collaborative problem solving.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships.
* High numerical and analytical capability.
* Understanding of customer expectations and the impact of quality failures.
