Southern Housing is seeking a committed Health and Safety Advisor to join our dedicated team. Reporting directly to a Senior Health & Safety Advisor, you will be the driving force behind continually enhancing our Health & Safety Management System and reinforcing sensible risk management across our organisation.
In this role, you’ll be instrumental in supporting managers and colleagues on a day‑to‑day basis, ensuring that our policies and procedures are consistently applied and woven into the fabric of our daily operations.
This position offers flexibility, with our hybrid working model allowing you to be based at any of our following offices in Farringdon, Croydon, Sittingbourne, or Hastings. It is a full‑time, permanent role.
You will need a Full Driving License and access to your own vehicle for this role.
Responsibilities
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will develop, implement and monitor health and safety policies, conduct risk assessments, deliver training, and ensure compliance with legislation and best practice. You will promote a safety culture, influence all levels of staff, and drive continuous improvement in health and safety practices.
What You’ll Need
* Professional qualification in Health and Safety (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent)
* Member of a relevant professional body (e.g., IOSH)
* Minimum 2 years experience post qualification working as a Health and Safety Advisor
* Up to date knowledge of health and safety legislation, guidance and best practice
* Strong communication and influencing skills, and a positive 'can do' attitude
* Ability to work effectively with colleagues throughout the organisation regardless of seniority or background
* Valid UK driving licence
