Government, Trade and Transport is one of our most vibrant sector groups; within which DWF operates a Procurement Centre of Excellence (PCE) which is comprised of over 35 specialist contentious and non-contentious procurement practitioners.

The purpose of the PCE is to advise Contracting Authorities and strategic suppliers to Government on the biggest and most interesting / complex procurements in the UK. PCE members work collegiately and have access to a procurement portal which includes a suite of procurement precedents, and involves regular contributions to procurement articles and a market leading series of procurement training webinars (which attracts thousands of delegates a year).

Given the strength of our Government, Trade and Transport practice (as evidenced by our appointment to over 20 legal panels including RM6360, RM6240, Welsh Government, Scottish Government, EmLawshare, NWLC, Homes England, NEPO and others) we are looking to appoint Associate, Senior Associate and Director level procurement practitioners.

We offer flexible hybrid working arrangements from any of our regional offices (Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle). Please do contact Colin Murray, Partner and Head of the PCE if it would be helpful to hear more about our PCE and Government, Trade and Transport practice.


Responsibilities

* An advisor to Central and Local Government, and strategic suppliers to Government on procurement strategy and procurement implementation.
* Preparing procurement documents / notices in order to ensure compliant procurements are conducted by Contracting Authorities.
* Advising on direct award procedures, the lawful modification of existing contracts, and other Procurement Act 2023 enquiries.
* Advising clients on all aspects of procurement law and the procurement lifecycle.
* An active member of the Procurement Centre of Excellence; involving writing articles, presenting webinars and conducting training to colleagues and clients on procurement law.


What will help you succeed in this role?


Essential

* Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with extensive knowledge of public procurement law.
* Experience of advising central and local government, wider public bodies, and suppliers on procurement law matters.
