What will you be doing as our new Design Manager?
As the Design Manager for Water Recycling, you will lead the design and delivery of wastewater pipeline solutions within the infrastructure team. Your focus will be on developing innovative, sustainable, and efficient solutions to transform wastewater networks, reduce carbon emissions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams for optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Management
* Oversee design teams to ensure high-quality project plans, managing scope, costs, risks, and resources.
* Work with discipline leads and the BIM manager to monitor design quality.
* Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to meet safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Project Delivery
* Partner with stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.
* Proactively manage risks and support value optimization.
Health & Safety
* Fulfill Principal Designer duties per CDM regulations and oversee competency assessments.
* Ensure safety and risk assessments are completed for projects.
People & Team Development
* Lead a multidisciplinary team, focusing on performance, development, and inclusivity.
* Strategically allocate resources, identify skill gaps, and support recruitment.
Transformation & Innovation
* Lead digital transformation and sustainability initiatives for AMP8.
* Drive innovation in carbon reduction, 3D modelling, and design standardization.
Candidate Skills, Experience, and Behaviours
Preferably hold an engineering or equivalent degree, with experience in the water sector, especially wastewater assets like pipelines, rising mains, pumping stations, and CSOs. Strong leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and a commitment to sustainability and safety are essential. Knowledge of CDM regulations and the ability to make decisive, safety-conscious decisions are required. You should be customer-focused, collaborative, and able to build trust and rapport within the team and across the Alliance.
