Overview
Laminator Operator – Location: Corby. Salary: DOE. Company: a leading packaging manufacturer.
Responsibilities
* Set and operate the laminator and achieve output targets in line with works orders, monitoring and making adjustments as necessary.
* Ensure quality control is maintained and carry out technical inspections and tests to check for defects; use experience and technical knowledge to problem solve throughout the shift.
* Verify, control and adjust machine settings as required within the guidelines and tolerances of the works order and production plan.
* Run the shift by planning the work to maximise efficiency and productivity according to the production plan, always with a mind on safety.
* Maximise production and cost effectiveness by reducing downtime through effective planning, including cutting cores and arranging raw materials for current and following shifts.
* Ensure all standard operating procedures are adhered to.
* Maintain stock levels for jobs for the current and following shift, prepare materials, and palletise as necessary; participate and ensure a smooth handover between shifts.
* Be proactive in organising own workload and maintain a self-motivated attitude towards departmental workload.
* Train all staff to maximise department knowledge, capability and productivity.
* As Responsible Person, oversee the general standard and staff within the factory to ensure Health & Safety and BRCGS rules are adhered to at all times and report any non-conformance.
* Act as a First Aider and Fire Marshall.
* Label, wrap and strap pallets with clear labelling as per the specified sheet.
* Transfer scrap to designated bailer and empty the bailer when required.
* Ensure all production sheets are filled out correctly and accurately.
* Monitor and conduct quality checks by measuring product dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation aligned to works order; sign on the works order to confirm quality checks are completed.
* Ensure samples are taken and all QC paperwork is completed correctly.
* Participate and ensure a smooth handover between shifts.
* Maintain a tidy lamination area and uphold high BRCGS standards.
* Follow and comply with all company, Health & Safety, HR and factory policies and procedures.
Requirements
* Experience working within a packaging and/or self-adhesive labels manufacturer.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the lamination process, ideally within a blown film extrusion / flexographic printing business.
* Production experience with the capability of operating high-speed modern machinery.
* Excellent technical skills.
* Basic IT skills.
* Team player.
* Clear and good communicator.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Management skills (coaching, mentoring, firmness, etc.).
* First Aider.
* Fire Marshall.
