This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. A key aspect involves continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive workplace health culture.
This role is based in Norwich, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Collaborate with medical and HSEA teams and operational staff to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and necessary monitoring or surveillance programs.
2. Implement occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic risks, including but not limited to:
3. Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH assessments
4. Monitoring chemical exposures such as benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, welding fumes, and toxic gases
5. Managing asbestos, including surveys and risk assessments
6. Noise and vibration management, including surveys and exposure assessments
7. Radiation management and assessment
8. Thermal hazard assessments, potable water management, communicable disease control, mould, animal/insect hazards, DSE, and fatigue management
• Design and recommend control strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate control measures like LEV, PPE, RPE testing.
• Deliver occupational hygiene training, including asbestos awareness, dust procedures, and PPE use.
• Conduct inspections and audits across all operational sites, including support centers and NUIs, covering occupational health standards, accommodation, welfare, and food prep areas.
• Maintain calibration systems for hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
1. Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
2. A BOHS-accredited degree, or
3. A combination of BOHS W & P modules.
• At least 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
• Passionate and driven, capable of promoting workplace health initiatives across the business.
• Excellent communication skills, able to present effectively in various forums and mediums.
• Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
