The Role
The Senior Peer Support Worker will work as part of a team that provides initial introductions with people in a community setting, focusing on the direct needs of the individual ensuring a collaborative approach to meet the needs of the service user and their identified goals.
Based in Salisbury working 22.5 hours per week over 3 evenings on a rota to cover weekdays, weekends and bank holidays. Main shift pattern 15:00 - 23:00, occasional day shift to accommodate training and other duties. Opportunity to work extra hours.
* Experience and understanding of living with and managing mental health issues or supporting someone in emotional distress, including understanding the barriers to meaningful living.
* To have a strong understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems.
* To have broad knowledge and awareness of local and national government initiatives in mental health services.
* Demonstrate an understanding of social exclusion and the recovery approach.
* Have an understanding of substance misuse and self harm.
* Have an understanding of service users with additional needs.
* Ability to work in partnership with a range of statutory and voluntary sector organisations.
* Good communication skills, both oral and written.
* Ability to respond to service users' needs
* Ability to produce clear, concise reports and records.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to manage and prioritise own workload.
* Be calm in a crisis and have a methodical approach to problem solving.
* Car driver preferred but not essential.
