Leicester Tigers are excited to announce an opportunity to join the Medical work-stream of our Physical Performance Department as a Head of Academy Medical. The primary focus of the role is to provide medical support to the Leicester Tigers Transition Group that are training with the Senior Programme or on loan and to manage the Leicester Tigers Academy medical staff, working with the Head of Academy Athletic Performance.

The successful candidate will join a strong team of medical practitioners and contribute to the growing knowledge base, assisting in the development of junior staff, and providing an innovative approach to developing current practices. The role reports directly to the Club’s Head of Medical and the Academy Manager and leads the physiotherapy and medical management of the Academy Squad with daily responsibility for the Transition Group. Responsibilities include planning injury prevention strategies, assessing, treating, and rehabilitating injuries, and providing pitch-side cover for Transition Group and Premiership Cup matches. The post-holder will liaise with stakeholders, including international teams and loan clubs, and assist in the day-to-day running of the wider Medical work-stream when needed, including medical support to the First-Team Squad.


Responsibilities

* Lead the physiotherapy and medical management of the Academy Squad and Transition Group.
* Plan and implement injury prevention strategies; assess, treat, and rehabilitate injuries.
* Provide pitch-side medical cover for Transition Group and Premiership Cup matches.
* liaise with international teams, loan clubs, and other stakeholders as required.
* Assist in the day-to-day running of the Medical work-stream and provide medical support to the First-Team Squad when needed.

* A current member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and registration with the Health Professions Council.
* A minimum of four years’ post-graduate physiotherapy experience, including at least three years at an elite level of sport with strong knowledge of academy and Transition Group structures.
* Leadership qualities and experience in managing a team/programme.
* A clean enhanced DBS disclosure (or ability to obtain).
* Experience with safeguarding principles.
* RFU PHICIS qualification or the ability to complete.
* CPD ongoing with emphasis in sports injury management.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Eligible to work in the UK.
* Full Driving Licence.
* Experience in rugby union.
* Post-Graduate MSc or current study towards.
* RFU Safeguarding qualifications.
* Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles.
* Computer literacy, including MS Office and databases.
