We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Agri Field Team. This role focuses on the maintenance, repair, and development of agricultural machinery and equipment essential to our vegetable farming operations. The role is based in Cockburnspath, Scottish Borders.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform repairs and maintenance on various farming equipment involved in crop growth and harvesting.
* Conduct tasks involving:
* Welding and fabrication
* Hydraulics systems
* 12-24 volt electrical systems
* General troubleshooting
* Develop and refine processes and techniques used within the machinery operations.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation and minimal downtime.
Qualifications And Skills Required
* Experience in mechanical engineering (Agricultural engineering experience is a plus but not essential; full training on specialist agricultural machines will be provided).
* Proficiency in welding, fabrication, and working with hydraulics and electrical systems.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
* Flexibility to work variable hours, including some early starts, late finishes, and shared weekend work.
* A full UK driving license is required for this role.
Working Hours
* Standard hours: 08:00 – 16:30, 37.5 hours per week.
* Flexibility for additional hours as needed.
* Weekend work on a rotational basis.
Compensation
* Hourly Rate: Starting at £19.00 per hour, with overtime paid at time and a half.
* Salary Option: A competitive salary may be offered, depending on experience and skills brought to the team.
