Family Support Keyworker – Children with Disabilities – Croydon Council
Permanent – 20 hours per week
The Opportunity
The postholder will deliver an intensive, targeted, and high-quality whole family service for Croydon families who have disabled children and young people at risk of poor outcomes or within statutory service.
Through comprehensive assessments, the worker will help families make decisions about necessary changes. Work will be guided by SMART planning and supported by the Strengthening Families approach. By working in a family-centered and holistic way, staff will aim to improve outcomes and life chances for children, young people with disabilities, and their families.
The team supports children and families within Croydon and those placed outside the borough, working with families across different areas as needed to ensure timely access to services.
Responsibilities include contributing to service delivery for at-risk children and young people requiring high-need interventions, working in partnership with families and agencies, supporting families with complex needs, engaging families to improve resilience and autonomy, and maintaining a caseload as the Lead Professional.
You will work as part of a multi-agency team to support families in accessing local services and will utilize the Strengthening Families framework to facilitate community engagement, including educational and early learning services.
About You
Relevant experience or qualifications in social work, teaching, psychology, psychotherapy, youth work, counseling, probation, health professions, education, or early years.
Knowledge of evidence-based practices related to working with families, especially those with complex needs and disabilities, is desirable.
You should be able to work independently with families in various settings, including their homes and outside core hours, delivering strategies that promote family responsibility, resilience, and autonomy. Practical skills such as cooking, establishing routines, setting boundaries, and modeling positive parenting are also important.
