Full-time: 35 hours per week
Fixed-term: for 36 months
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Biometrics for In Silico Breeding to join the BBSRC-funded HiPerBreedSim project. The role involves developing a comprehensive statistical framework and software tools to simulate complex phenotypic data, integrating multiple data streams such as genetic, environmental, and multi-omics data, including their linear and non-linear interactions. This framework will facilitate large-scale simulations of high-dimensional experimental data from plant and animal breeding. The software will complement our existing breeding ecosystem, including AlphaSimR and FieldSimR.
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week), with flexibility for part-time or alternative working arrangements. The contract is fixed-term for 36 months.
The salary for this position ranges from £40,497 to £48,149 per annum.
Your skills and attributes for success:
* Passion for biometrics, statistics, and quantitative genetics in experimental breeding data.
* Expertise in linear and generalized mixed models and machine learning algorithms.
* Experience with high-level programming languages such as Rcpp and C++.
* Interest in developing open-source software for academic and applied purposes.
* Independent, organized, and collaborative, thriving in multidisciplinary teams within a globally significant sector.
Please review the call documentation for detailed essential and desirable knowledge, skills, and experience requirements.
