Job Summary
Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Rehabilitation within the Intermediate Care Unit at City Care Centre, Peterborough. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team to rehabilitate patients admitted from acute hospitals and the community.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide assessment and occupational therapy interventions to patients admitted for rehabilitation.
* Implement therapy plans and delegate to therapy assistants and integrated care workers.
* Develop skills in sub‑acute rehabilitation and discharge planning with MDT and other pathways.
* Work autonomously across settings, including travelling for access visits.
* Hold clinical responsibility and professional autonomy for a designated caseload from referral to discharge.
* Be legally and professionally responsible for the management of patients and clinical responsibilities.
* Ensure effective selection, use and fitting of equipment.
* Plan and carry out assessments independently in a variety of settings.
* Appropriately delegate tasks to therapy assistants.
Person Specification
Essential
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy.
* Current HCPC registration.
* Documented evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Broad range of undergraduate experience in a variety of settings.
* Commitment to providing high quality care.
* Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
* Effective communication skills.
* Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload.
* Ability to pass skills and knowledge to others.
* Accepts responsibility and accountability for own work and defines responsibilities of others.
* Recognises limits of own authority within the role.
* Seeks and uses professional support appropriately.
* Ability to use the CPFT Trust Values to guide behaviour with patients, carers and colleagues.
Desirable
* Member of RCOT.
* Clinical experience working with older people and long‑term conditions.
