Job Description
We are seeking a Scientific Communications Manager to support our Atlas of Variant Effects (AVE) project. The successful candidate will work alongside the Director of Programme Operations and with members of the Alliance’s UK Executive Committee to establish and deliver an overarching AVE communications strategy.
The role will involve developing a communications strategy, crafting and curating internal and external communications, and engaging with AVE leadership to advise on communications matters. The candidate will also be responsible for translating complex scientific information into engaging material for the general public and managing internal communication materials.
Responsibilities:
* Develop a communications strategy in partnership with the Director for Programme Operations and the Alliance Communications group.
* Craft and curate internal and external communications to ensure AVE scientists feel a sense of belonging and create impactful content that engages with the public.
* Engage with AVE leadership to advise on communications matters and achieve buy-in for the overall communications strategy.
* Translate complex scientific information into engaging material for the general public.
* Manage internal communication materials and develop email marketing campaigns.
* Develop and plan a social media calendar of activity across all external communications channels.
* Create a suite of key metrics to track the impact of the communications strategy and adapt as necessary.
Requirements:
* Degree-level in science or humanities or demonstrable equivalent skills and experience.
* Previous experience in scientific writing and producing clear and accurate communications.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to manage and organise time and adapt communications style to audience.
* Ability to build excellent working partnerships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
What We Offer:
A competitive salary (£40,232-£47,796 full-time equivalent, pro-rated for part-time hours) and a hybrid working arrangement with 18.5 hours per week, flexible to suit the role and team needs.
