The main responsibility is to support and advise colleagues and management, ensuring high service standards in all HR aspects within the organisation. This includes involvement in employee relations, performance management, and prompt handling of HR queries.
1. Provide operational HR advice, guidance, and logical solutions to managers and employees on policies, procedures, and employment law to solve problems/queries quickly.
2. Lead employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, and performance concerns.
3. Escalate more complex employee relation cases to the People Partner or Head of People & Culture when necessary.
4. Coach and develop managers on operational policies and procedures.
5. Support the Head of People & Culture and People Partner on areas such as work reviews and change processes.
6. Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies to ensure compliance and best practice.
7. Assist People Partner & Head of People & Culture on HR projects to support business objectives and enhance employee experience.
8. Generate ad hoc reports to support monthly HR dashboard data.
9. Collaborate with payroll and support with monthly payroll reporting to ensure minimal errors.
10. Administer documentation for new starters, leavers, promotions, variations, and other HR processes in a timely manner.
11. Support the Training & Development team by managing the inbox, ensuring managers follow procedures, booking training courses that offer value for money, and maintaining the training matrix.
12. Assist with the enrolment and mentoring of apprentices across the business.
13. Utilise HR information systems to access, input, and compile data, ensuring electronic filing and maintenance of employee documentation comply with legislation.
14. Identify and suggest new HR processes to improve daily operations.
15. Contribute to driving business performance aligned with organisational objectives.
16. Stay updated with employment law and ensure compliance across all HR activities.
17. Attend training sessions to develop HR knowledge and skills.
18. Support the People & Culture team with additional duties as required.
19. Build strong relationships and trust at all levels within the organisation.
20. Confidently meet with managers or departmental representatives to discuss and advise on HR policies and casework issues.
21. Previous experience as a HR Advisor (ideally 2 years) in an operational environment, handling cases such as performance management, investigations, disciplinary, grievance, and flexible working.
22. Currently working towards or have attained CIPD Level 5 qualification.
