A Vacancy has arisen for Band 7 Neonatal Transitional Care Lead

Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) is thrilled to announce the introduction of providing nursing care within our Transitional Care Service, spanning both the Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) and Nottingham City Hospital campuses. We are looking for a visible leader who is a professional role model dedicated to high standards of care and patient safety, with excellent leadership, communication and people skills and experience of managing change.

This is a new role that you will make your own. You will predominantly lead, manager and support a team of Band 5 Neonatal Transitional Care Nurses and join us on this exciting journey, shaping the future of care for babies and their families.

Main duties of the job

What We're Looking For:

As the Transitional Care Unit Ward Manager/charge nurse you will oversee the service and ensure that the standards and quality of care given to the babies are to the highest standard, reducing separation of mothers and babies.

The successful candidate will be an effective leader and role model and will be expected to provide leadership, education and managerial support and use experience to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance.

You will be committed to working flexibly as a member of the service team to support and ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.

Job responsibilities

* NMC Registration
* Relevant post-basic study appropriate to specialty to degree/masters level
* Experience in neonatal care
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Recruitment and retention of staff
* Evidence of ability to supervise and assess staff
* Ability to manage the clinical area or ward efficiently and effectively
* Ability to lead change and lead new ways of working
* Able to present and receive complex information within the multi professional team
* Demonstrate negotiation and influencing skills
* Assertiveness skills and the ability to deal with conflict
* Team player who can initiate, delegate and complete projects
* Ability to respond to, prioritise and analyse complex problems/situations and ensure effective interventions are put in place.
* Ability to generate and present reports and documents
* Deal effectively with clinical issues within defined procedures/guidelines
* Demonstrate insight in the use of data to influence patient care and services
* Can formulate short and long-term objectives
* Demonstrate an ability to prioritise own workload and recognise, prioritise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations

Person Specification


Training and Qualifications

* oCurrent UK NMC sub-part 1 registration
* oRelevant post-basic study appropriate to neonatal speciality
* oAble to demonstrate academic learning at degree level or willing to undertake
* oNLS provider
* oCompetent in medicines management
* oTeaching & Assessing Qualification
* oFormal leadership and management training


Experience

* oSupervision of non-registered staff, pre-registration and post basic students.
* oEvidence of ability to supervise and assess staff
* oAbility to manage the clinical area or ward efficiently and effectively
* oAbility to lead change and lead new ways of working
* Recruitment and retention of staff


Communication and Relationship Skills

* oAble to present and receive complex information within the multi professional team
* oDemonstrate negotiation and influencing skills
* oAssertiveness skills and the ability to deal with conflict
* oTeam player who can initiate, delegate and complete projects
* oDemonstrate self-awareness and understanding of personal accountability
* oAbility to support colleagues, patients and relatives / carers in distressing circumstances


Physical Skills

* oPhysically able to perform the full range of nursing duties
* oDexterity and accuracy in undertaking clinical skills, use of equipment and documentation
* oCompetent and capable of using medical equipment
* oAble to undertake patient manual handling manoeuvres and non-patient manual handling manoeuvres


Analytical and Judgement Skills

* oAbility to respond to, prioritise and analyse complex problems/situations and ensure effective interventions are put in place.
* oAbility to generate and present reports and documents
* oDeal effectively with clinical issues within defined procedures/guidelines
* oDemonstrate insight in the use of data to influence patient care and services
