Role Summary
We are looking to recruit two full‑time consultants to work on Elm Ward and Maple Ward – the two acute admission wards in West Park Hospital, Darlington.
Ward Details
Elm Ward is a female acute ward and Maple Ward is a male acute ward. Each ward is a 20‑bedbeded inpatient unit, commissioned by the Ministry of Defence to house a total of four beds across the two wards.
* Elm Ward – 20 beds (assessment and treatment)
* Maple Ward – 20 beds, also supported by two Consultant Psychiatrists
Clinical Responsibilities
* Provide clinical input to approximately 10‑12 patients on both Elm and Maple wards, depending on acuity.
* Work closely with other clinicians in Adult Mental Health, supporting a flexible service that recognises potential for recovery.
* Lead the multi‑disciplinary team alongside the team manager, contributing to service development.
* Participate in clinical governance, setting and maintaining standards, and commit to quality improvement.
Service Environment
The inpatient units operate on the Purposeful In‑Patient Admissions model and the Productive Ward concept. Four Consultant Psychiatrists (4 WTE) support the two acute wards at West Park Hospital, in addition to a Consultant Nurse.
